Castle is now in its second of a seven episode run to the finale for the season. And it built upon last week’s raw numbers. “Heartbreaker” did a 1.07 in the 18-49 demo with 6.372 million viewers in the April 4 episode. Those numbers were up with the April 11 episode “Death Wish.” Ratings for the first episode offering from former Castle writers’ assistant Stephanie Hicks rise to 1.10 with 6.435 million viewers.
For those wondering, Castle is now at 1.1 for season—that’s down about 31% over last season. The show is fifth in the biggest losers for the 2015-16 season for the ABC network. But if we take Galavant and Marvel: Agent Carter out of the mix, that makes the show third behind How to Get Away with Murder (37%) and Once Upon a Time (34%).
At this point, ABC has made a decision whether the show is going forward with a new season or is ending on May 16. The network’s upfront is scheduled for May 17 (the day after the the finale airs). In the past, ABC has traditionally announced renewals about four days before. But with the early renewal announcements, it’s hard to tell what the network is going to do this time around.
