Recap: Sleeper

Castle has meet its Jaws. And in retrospect, Jaws 2, 3, and 4 in the process. I would like say I was surprised by this but I’m not. “Sleeper” feels more like an attempt at sneaking in the Derrick Storm project than a Castle episode.

Recap: Castle, P.I.

Overall, this was a well-rounded episode and a good way to kick off the season. The private investigator angle is a good way to go to keep Caskett working together even if they're working against each other.

Recap: Hong Kong Hustle

After three week hiatus, Castle returned with the first solo offering Chad Creasey. The promo for this that followed “The Wrong Stuff” didn’t do this episode any favors because almost immediately, people were moaning and groaning.

Recap: Habeas Corpse

There’s always a moment of hesitation when it comes to Rob Hanning. The guy who brought us “Still” and one-half of “Veritas” has proven him a champ at some episodes while providing us with some duds in the past.

Recap: Private Eye Caramba

This was a "take it or leave it" episode. It wasn't nearly as good as "Castle, P.I." but it was still better than the first half of the season (thus far).

Recap: Child’s Play

Overall, this episode was well-rounded. It had a little bit of everything for the Castle fan. It was good to see Castle with kids—no doubt this will probably spark another discussion kids in the future.

Recap: Kill Switch

"Kill Switch" had the makings of a good episode but failed in the execution. The episode was Esposito's "Always" moment where he realizes what's important in life. The problem is that the lack sufficient character development in both Epsosito and Lanie over the past several seasons, making the episode feel awkward.

Recap: Once Upon a Time in the West

Trying to get into this episode was like a long drive with a backseat driver at the end of the journey, you wanted to kill someone. I found myself wanting to fast forward through parts. I kept hoping I'd get a laugh or a smile. Beckett clearly wears the pants in the family. Maybe Luke should make a skirt for Castle.

Recap: Last Action Hero

The episode is a spoof on The Expendables film series starring, you guessed it aging action heroes. Sadly, the success of those films weren't transported to this episode. Watching Castle becoming buffoon is never fun to watch.

Recap: I, Witness

The episode is better than "Private, Eye Caramba" but not nearly as good as "Castle, P.I." Unlike the previous episodes this season, this is the first episode I rewatched for the fun of it. And I felt better about it the second time around.

The move to a night did not impact The Rookie. The sophomore season premiered to a 0.7 in the 18-45 demo and captured 4.1 million viewers. This is on par with the season one finale in April.
