Recap: The Nose

“The Nose” is one of those episodes that has potential and makes a good selling point at the very end. Stephanie Weir (MadTV) guest stars as a witness with a unique ability: a keen sense of smell that makes her a recluse in life but learns something in the end.

Recap: What Lies Beneath

"What Lies Beneath" offers a retread of season two's "Fool Me Once" that lacks the fun factor of that episode. Part of the problem this season, aside from the split of the dynamic duo, Castle's bumbling attempt to win Beckett back is not as good as it could be.

Recap: PhDead

Overall, for the first episode out from the new dynamic, it had some legs for growth. Every episode must be viewed in that lens. As promised by the producers, the investigation into LokSat is in the background and not the central focus of the episode.

Recap: XX

“XX” opens up right where “XY” ended with Beckett looking out the window of a seized drug house with the bad guys rolling up. Her and Vikram share a moment of reflection before they try to get some sleep.

Recap — XY

Castle got off to a very strong start with "XY." The dual perspective of the episode an enticing entrance that will set off a season long arc, something the series sorely needed.

Recap — Hollander’s Woods

"Hollander's Woods" was a double-ending episode. It can serve as a soft season finale with no major issues to resolve in the premiere or as a series finale. It was a satisfying end the season. The strongest one since "Always" in season four.

Recap — Dead from New York

As the 150th episode, there was nothing special with no standout moments or anything to write home about. It was an episode that was par for the course for season that has had significant ups and downs in terms of episode quality.

Recap — In Plane Sight

There is nothing beneficial about this episode other than it serves as a means to fulfill an episode order and to give the co-lead a few days off. The plot was weak and left a general distaste.

Recap: Sleeper

Castle has meet its Jaws. And in retrospect, Jaws 2, 3, and 4 in the process. I would like say I was surprised by this but I’m not. “Sleeper” feels more like an attempt at sneaking in the Derrick Storm project than a Castle episode.

Recap: Habeas Corpse

There’s always a moment of hesitation when it comes to Rob Hanning. The guy who brought us “Still” and one-half of “Veritas” has proven him a champ at some episodes while providing us with some duds in the past.
