Ratings for “Backstabber”
For anyone thinking the news of Stana Katic’s departure (and Tamala Jones’ exit) ahead of a potential season nine had anything to do with the slight drop, check yourself. The ratings for the night were down across the board on all networks. We’re getting into that time of the TV season where ratings generally drop back as the days get longer and the weather gets warmer. With that in mind, here’s how Castle did: 0.99 (rounded up in finals to 1.0) in the demo with 5.864 million viewers. Third place overall in demo and second place in the total viewers. It’ll likely end up on the lower side of 2.2 and a shade under 10 million when the Live +7 numbers come out.
Will the news of the cast shakeup affects ratings going into the final batch of episodes?
That is question is on a lot of people’s minds. The news was picked up by nearly every major publication—whenever the lead of a show exits tends to make even the most local level of news. So, by now a lot of people may have heard the it if not they will as we march closer to the finale. It will be interesting to see if ABC plays up Katic’s final few episodes or if they’ll just let her fade away. My gut tells me the ratings will hover in the 1.0 to 1.1 through the end of the season. That’s just me.
