ABSENTIA NEWS—Amazon has officially picked up Stana Katic’s Absentia for a second season. The news was initially floated in March but is now confirmed. All of the principal players left standing at the end of the season one finale are returning. There are some new cast additions.
Matthew Le Nevez is joining the series at Cal Issac, an ex-Navy SEAL who knows a thing or two about the demons Katic’s Emily Byrne carries around inside her. He will prove to be a valuable ally to Emily as she tries to reconnect with her son and ex-husband while continuing to chase her past.
Le Nevez has appeared in numerous productions in Australia including Offspring and The Widow. His other credits include a syndication series called Legend of the Seeker and The Kettering Incident.
In addition to Le Nevez, there is also a new FBI agent joining the series. Natasha Little will play Julianne Gunnarsen who joins the the agency’s Boston field office after a terrorist attack.
The series is currently filming in Bulgaria. Canada’s Showcase Network renewed the series earlier this summer. No word on when the second season of Absentia will premiere but it will be sometime in 2019.
