“The Rookie” gets another tour

THE ROOKIE - "Follow-Up Day" - Nolan is given some life-changing news and invites Grace over for a homecooked meal in his newly remodeled kitchen. Meanwhile, each unit is tasked with following up on dormant cases in the hopes they can uncover new leads on an all-new episode of "The Rookie," airing SUNDAY, MARCH 8 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. ABC has renewed Nathan Fillion’s The Rookie for a third season. The show had modest ratings after being bumped from Tuesday nights to Sundays for its sophomore season.

The show was one of the lucky ones in that it had wrapped right before the pandemic shut the entertainment industry down. It was able to air all 20 of its episodes as planned.

The show will stay in its Sunday night timeslot.

It is not known when the show will head back into production. Right now California and in particular, Los Angeles County, is seeing a surge in coronavirus cases. Typically, shows head into production in late July. The state and the city of Los Angeles has released protocols for productions to resume and the industry itself has issued guidelines.

The last update I had from my sources (not connected to the show, but to the industry itself): doubtful shows on either coast will be able to resume in July as they normally would.

Hang tight folks. Looks like fall TV may be delayed.
