When a body of a New York City Councilman running for re-election is found wrapped in a rug on the sidewalk, Castle and Beckett’s investigation takes them deep into the cutthroat world of New York City politics. As the new partners dig beneath the surface of the case, they discover a world of high-priced escorts, arrogant tycoons, and corrupt private investigators along with the true cost of betrayal. Meanwhile, Castle’s final novel in the Derrick Storm series hits the bookstores, causing his mother to search for any and all signs of failure. And at one of his book readings, Beckett tries to throw Castle off his game, only to learn that he has flipped the script on her once again.
